Wickham Village Team was formed in June last year with the aim of enhancing communication and cohesion among community groups and engaging the whole community in a wide variety of local events, old and new. Starting off with one representative from each of the founding organisations (Wickham Community Association, Wickham Chamber of Trade, Wickham Society, Wickham Residents Society, Wickham History Society, Wickham Parish Council, Wickham Religious Communities and Winchester City Council), the Team has now blossomed to a membership of 22, with others offering their help as and when it is needed. Chairman, Nigel Prior, is delighted with the level of interest in the Team:
“We are thrilled that so many people, both residents and business owners, can see the benefit that a Village Team can bring, and crucially, are willing to help achieve it.”
The Team’s first objective in 2017 is to get a “What’s On Guide” for Wickham designed, printed and distributed. A great deal of work has already gone on in contacting local ogranisations and clubs to find out about their larger events this year, and the guide will be printed by the end of February, thanks to sponsorship from Warwick Lane and Bay Tree Walk. Make sure you pick up a guide from local shops, cafes, pubs and the Wickham Centre and never miss a Wickham event!
We thought we’d introduce you to a few of the faces on the Team. As you can see, we come from lots of different walks of life, and you may even recognise one or two of us!
If you’d like to join us, you’re most welcome at any of our Village Team meetings (held on the second Wednesday of every month in the Wickham Centre) or drop us a line at email@example.com. You can find out more about the Team at http://www.wickhamsquare.co.uk/wickhamvillageteam/
